CASE: ELICIA WONG, STEM ENTREPRENEUR

Dr Elicia Wong is a STEM entrepreneur who has lived and breathed science for over two decades. She grew up in New Zealand, having moved there from Malaysia when she was seven, and later to Australia to complete her studies.

She loves being a scientist and has enjoyed doing some pretty cool scientific research and experiments at high school, then at university.

Starting her own business was motivated by wanting to create employment for others and to create something from nothing. She also wanted to have freedom to make her own decisions and work for herself.  Her advice for budding female STEM entrepreneurs: “Believe in yourself… if you believe you can be successful, you are already most of the way there!”

This case includes a video interview to watch in class, a written case study handout for students, and teaching notes.
